We are currently looking for people:

One of Ontario’s largest roofing contractors located in Toronto, Etobicoke is looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Copper Smith/Metal Installer. The position includes the reading of blueprints and specifications and the installation/altering of copper/sheet metal systems. Should have minimum 7 years experience in residential/industrial roofing and a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

Job Type: Full-time

Required education:

  • High school or equivalent

Required experience:

  • Copper/Metal Installer: 5 years

_____ Position and Compensation:

* Slope Roofer – Journeyman (Installer) and Apprentice (General Labourer)

  • Full-time permanent position. Steady employment all year.

* 44+ hours per week – On Season – April to December.

  • 20+ hours per week – Off Season – January to March.

Compensation, Per Hour
Journeyman (Installer) = $23.00 – $30.00
Apprentice (Material Handler) = $20.00 – $25.00
Apprentice (General Labourer) = $15.00 – $20.00

1. Basic Wage Rate: Based on experience and qualifications.
2. Gain sharing – Team Performance Improvements Based Pay
3. Vacation Pay: 4% on all gross compensation.
4. Individualized Healthcare, Drug and Dental Benefits
5. Driving Wage Rate: Selected responsible employees are paid for driving company vehicles to project sites.

_____ Qualifications – Skills and Knowledge:

Journeyman:

  • 1 – 2 years of sloped roofing asphalt shingle tiles installation experience
  • Install, repair or replace asphalt shingles. (Will train where required).

Apprentice (Material Handler, General Labouer), and Journeyman:

  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to handle and lift materials and tools up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and various equipment.
  • Steel toe and steel sole boots or shoes.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Clean appearance, courteous manners and works well on teams.
  • High regard for safety requirements.
  • Willing to be trained and advance within company.
  • Valid driver license preferred.
  • Own transportation is an asset but, not required.

_____ Responsibilities and Requirements:

Journeyman:

  • Assist foreman in management of apprentices.

Apprentice (Material Handler, General Labouer), and Journeyman:

  • Roof removal and disposal.
  • Material handling, installation and storage.
  • Tools and equipment management and operation.
  • Ability to handle and lift materials and tools up to 70 lbs.
  • Arrival at office each morning for 6:00-6:30am, depending on season.
  • Availability to work Saturdays when requested.
  • Completion of Working at Heights, WHMIS and Propane Handling for Roofing course.
